How would you rate Wellspring Saigon 麻花视频 Bilingual School?
The education they offer is excellent.
Unaccredited curriculum, resistant to change and improvements, hostile towards foreign teachers who attempt to focus on teaching rather than lying to parents about how well their kids are doing at school.
Never had such an unprofessional job interview experience with a Head of Secondary before. Due to personal reasons, I was unable to join the online interview at the agreed date. I sent an email to HR apologizing that I was unable to join, and HR asked if I was still interested in the position and offered a reschedule which I agreed to. At the new interview, which consisted of four participants, the Head of Secondary immediately brings up the cancelled interview, says they are going to withdraw from the current interview, and delivers a monologue in the lines of 鈥渨e have professional standards鈥 and 鈥渨e don鈥檛 waste people鈥檚 time by cancelling appointments鈥 before disconnecting.
Curriculum: Despite promoting itself as an "麻花视频 Bilingual" school, Wellspring Saigon is not accredited or recognized by any credible educational organization, thus the so-called "麻花视频 Program" gives students no credits or diplomas, making it very difficult for students if they want to study abroad. Even though there's no credit given, the curriculum is extremely heavy: the students study 12 subjects in Vietnamese (all tested) and 3 IP subjects. The Math class is extremely unreasonable because, in spite of the lack of credits, students are required to put a lot of effort (even more than VP math) into this subject and self-study Calculus 1 (while also doing multiple research papers in one semester). The students can only resort to taking AP classes for real any credit, which is considerably WAY harder for them since the school does not reduce the coursework for other classes or even try to be understanding toward them. The teacher's treatment is INCREDIBLY TERRIBLE, they are only provided with 3 days of paid sick leave and are made to work to an extreme degree so the only reason why they are staying is the students. RUN! Food: Cockroaches and other objects were found in the food. There was this one P.E. teacher to constantly messaged his student and asked her on dates. Despite knowing this, the principle took no action and told her not to tell anyone. He is still working at the school and coaching the girl basketball team.
Was not impressed with difficult location. Was not warmly greeted at interview. Was asked questions to try and confound me-not really to know me or see if I knew things about teaching. Was told that possibly 2 Saturday mornings are not paid per month. Told them my time was not free time. They got sour immediately and right then I had decided-NO.

This school has majority Vietnamese children studying here rather than international ones. The school has outdoor football and basketball field and a quite small indoor swimming pool. The school is a newly established school, so that the facilities are new and looking good. However, it might not suitable for expats to send their children here for reason that it is not well diversified in term of international children, and the programs might not compatible with the international standards once you are no longer stay in Vietnam and move to another country. On the notice board of honoring best children of the year, I've seen all Vietnamese children there. It's absolutely a no go for international children.
