About 麻花视频 Academy of New York (IANY)

The 麻花视频 Academy of New York (IANY) is a diverse and multicultural school community which develops culturally astute students who become bi-lingual in Mandarin Chinese or Spanish. The Academy values curious, active, and growth mindsets. It nurtures all aspects of human development鈥攊ntellectual, physical, creative, social, and emotional鈥攊n order to raise young adults who possess the skills, the confidence, and the compassion to contribute and thrive anywhere in the world.

At the 麻花视频 Academy of New York, we believe that students learn best when they feel seen and heard; that small class sizes create opportunities for meaningful investigation into core subjects at the highest level; that truly diverse schools produce students who are culturally astute, intellectually stimulated, and make transitions easily; and that bilingual education is a necessity in an ever-shrinking world.

We approach our students as individuals, preparing them to navigate the world they will inherit with confidence, energy, and resilience.

STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! IANY was my first experience with private school and the absolute worst. In fact, it has undeniably soured my experience with private school so much so that I pulled my child out of the school immediately. First, my son was enrolled in pre kindergarten in an UNBALANCED class of 6 boys and 1 girl with 3 teachers. Yes, THREE teachers. The third teacher was added in the middle of the school year which was a red flag. 3 teachers for 7 students who are 4 years old. From the moment the school started there has been red flag after red flag. For example, right after school started on approximately 9/28/21, the school had a "licensing issue" that affected the lower grades (nursery and Pre-K). The parents were notified on 9/28/21 that there was an emergency meeting that night to discuss the licensing issue. The head of school was vague and never explained specifically what the issue was. For an entire week, parents of nursery students and pre-K had to find another arrangement for the children. The issue was not resolved until the following week on 10/6/21. While we were not charged for that week, it was concerning and the first of many red flags. My four year old who never ever engaged in violence was subjected to random acts of violence and started learning in this school how to defend himself. I met with the headmaster several times to address the issue and there was a lot of deflecting, gaslighting, and pointing fingers. Every step of the way, I tried to give the headmaster the benefit of the doubt by bringing in my own team of experts which included a retired early childhood teacher and educational consultant who works closely with schools, and they both agreed independently that this school is not the right fit for my son. The last straw (among many) was when she told me that she did not believe my 4 year old son felt like he belonged in the school. She reasoned that because he is large in stature and new to the school he may feel like he does not belong. As you can imagine, to hear this from the head of the school is extremely concerning as she is responsible for ensuring that ALL children feel welcomed in the school. Other noteworthy red flags are that the gym teacher quit in the middle of the school year, after school was canceled with no explanation, and during a virtual meeting to meet a board member, the translator kept calling the school a different name. There are better schools out there. Would NOT recommend.

Amazing gem of a school on UES. Warm and professional teachers make you and your kids feel like part of their community immediately! Small classes lend to focused teaching. Bilingual Spanish and Mandarin tracks!
