About Brave Generation Academy (BGA)
At Brave Generation Academy (BGA) we make it our mission to provide every learner with a specialised and holistic education. We aim to revolutionise learning; preparing our children to be independent thinkers in the rapidly changing world. The elective nature of our course allows learners to study what they want, leaving more room for them to truly discover their passions. Our learning coaches develop the skills needed for each learner to be successful. Whether they want to enter prestigious universities, become accomplished musicians, train to be Olympic athletes or run their own start-ups, we help them identify their passions and achieve more.
Through the Skills block, we motivate our learners to prepare for life by broadening their perspectives and becoming experts through practice. We stimulate our learners to try new and different extra and co- curricular activities in order to develop specific competencies for life, independently or in groups. The learning coach organizes workshops and interdisciplinary projects in a way that it fits well within the learner's schedule.
Through the Community block, we aim at bridging the gap between the learners and the real world. This block stands how we engage and behave in the real world, making our learners aware of the external environment that surrounds them, fostering creativeness, critical thinking, confidence, collaboration and the "I can" mindset. Within our community, that goes beyond the "classrooms", the learners engage in discussion and hand-on group projects.

How would you rate Brave Generation Academy (BGA)?
I am a student at BGA and I must say I'm quite disappointed. To do the work, we use the BGA learn website which constantly has bugs, the course managers take over 1 month to correct and grade assignments. The lessons are composed of basically just YouTube videos that we watch, and the tests and quiz's usually consist of things I have never learned before. For example, I was doing a Science Quiz and it appeared for me complex chemical formula, which i have never learned before. Even my peers were saying 'Why do you have this? This work is Year12 grade science." I will also mention the school wasn't even approved by the Minist茅rio de Educa莽茫o, which means it is not a real Portuguese school. Next year I was planning to move but when we talked with the board of education they said i would be held back a year because the curriculum at BGA wasn't certified therefore I wasn't doing any work. Also, the hub coaches do nothing. They just tell you what to do but you're basically all by yourself doing the work, which is so easy to fall behind, plus the school is for Year7 and up, how do they expect 12 year olds to discipline themselves enough? I don't get it. BGA also advertises their school as 'New And Different' and 'Not traditional school' the only non traditional thing about the school is that the work is on computers. The curriculum is either British IGCSE or American, and the American is the same exact things i was learning at a international school last year. I am highly disappointed in BGA and don't recommend it.
It鈥檚 a horrible school, almost every person in the school is falling behind one year or more, it鈥檚 pretty much impossible to graduate as the school always give wrong dates for exams, always make up something that would keep you from leaving the school. (At this point I think it鈥檚 done on purpose so they get extra money). In general very careless school with a bunch of problems and selfish money hungry staff.

Dear Alayah, we are sorry to hear about your experience, we take all reviews seriously and are committed to improving our services. I would like to address your concerns: Falling Behind: It is unfortunate to hear that you feel this way. We are constantly working on improving our educational model to ensure that students can progress at their own pace, for us there is no 鈥榝alling behind鈥. Exam Dates: Exams happen more than once a year, we will review our processes and communications to ensure that there are no inconsistencies in exam dates moving forward. Leaving: We do not hold Learners and anyone that wishes to leave can do at any time of the year, as our model is flexible. BGA acts on the best behalf of its Learners and their happiness and self-motivation are what thrive us. Staff: Our staff is here to support our learners and build a strong relationship with them. We conduct internal evaluation from Learners to staff periodically and training programs to enhance our team's understanding of Learners needs and concerns. If you want to discuss your concerns in more detail, contact our student services team directly. No care for officials, no recognition by minist茅rio do educa莽茫o A nice little scam!!

Dear Vandamne, our curriculum is accredited by globally recognized institutions, including Cambridge and Pearson. This ensures that our learners receive a high-quality education that is accepted worldwide. Currently the Minist茅rio da Educa莽茫o does not yet have a specific recognition for hybrid school models. However, we have been actively collaborating with them to establish the framework for this innovative approach to education. Our goal is to transform the education landscape and we're proud to have achieved significant milestones on this journey while safeguarding the future of our learners.BGA is a scam. Our child attended BGA for a year and lost an entire year of education the year they spent there. The learning coaches are untrained in education or pedagogy. They have high turnover with the learning coaches. Their curriculum is a hodgepodge of videos (many from free sources like YouTube or Kahn Academy) and the school did not receive its accreditation by the ministry of education. When we decided to transfer to another school, we learned from two schools we applied to that our child was behind a full grade level due to the lack-luster curriculum at BGA. We also learned that neither school would allow our child to enter at grade level since BGA is not approved by the ministry of education. We had to hold our child back a grade because of BGA's lack of trained teachers and poor curriculum.

We are sorry to hear that you feel this way. We currently have more than a thousand Learners happy and thriving. The teacher-role at BGA is divided between the Learning Coach and the Course Manager, both have both educational and pedagogic experience and training. The videos selected to be displayed on our Courses are carefully selected by our Course Managers, and not the source but the quality is what really matters. BGA allows learners and their families to build a personalized curriculum, therefore, depending on your personal choices it is understandable that it can be hard to get an equivalence to a traditional model. Our curriculum is accredited by globally recognized institutions, including Cambridge and Pearson and we have been actively collaborating with the Minist茅rio da Educa莽茫o to establish the framework for BGAs innovative approach to education.Very poor. Very unorganised. Terrible.

We're committed to continuous improvement, and we take your feedback seriously. If you're open to it, we'd appreciate more details about your concerns so that we can address them effectively and make the necessary improvements.Good idea executed very poorly. They have bought a platform in from Cloudlearn for iGCSE, which is aimed at adults doing retakes. But what is particularly poor at BGA is there are no experienced teachers. They do not have experience of the UK curriculum and have never taught in UK schools. They really have no idea how to get kids through UK exams. Just a terrible experience. Many kids lost a year's education. It's a start up, its main aim is rapid growth and unfortunately not the standard of education.

Dear Claire, we are sorry to hear about your experience. Please allow me to clarify some of the points you made; our content is not Cloudlearn鈥檚 and it is built over Cambridge/Edexcel guidelines by our Course Managers, that improve them daily based on our Learners feedback. Our Course Managers have experience with the UK Curriculum and have subject expertise. Our Learners need to go through important milestones before writing their exams, such as Mock Exams and Assessments to track where they stand. In any case, we measure our success through our Learners happiness and motivation, even though we have a great exam passing rate.Reviews from Google
