How would you rate The American Baccalaureate School?
The school don鈥檛 have previous plans for the test and exams like most of the schools , specially for middle and high school. For instance, for the final tests it is every day with no day off in between and a full day studying hours from 7:30 until 2:30 (ex: Sunday Arabic final; Monday Islamic; Tuesday math, Wednesday English; Thursday science; next Sunday Quran; Monday Arabic 2, and so on) The teachers are academically weak specially the newly employed and they get replaced in the middle of the school year
Such an amazing school!! All teachers are nice, even students. It's easy almost all students are Arab, they are nice and it鈥檚 easy they have fun activities and education clean school. Dont trust the reviews, they're all false because this school is amazing 100/100 ! ! Go to this school
Students interest is a priority , there may be some concerns about some teachers , but they do put a lot of efforts to keep maintain a good level of education . Many activities , international competitions, IT level is high in the school , nice facilities, NHS and MUN are active Nice graduations and they appreciate good students The only concern is the traffic and crowd around the school , but location is good because it鈥檚 close to residential areas
I love ABS join it and watch your GPA go up
Everything is amazing my 11 year old joined ABS in grade 2 and ever since her thinking is excellent she's improved but when she was in BSK she always came home crying saying the teachers are the worst there
The American baccalaureate school is one of the best in Kuwait. I like it since the education is very high and students learn more in A.B.S than every other school.
The school is very unprofessional in terms of academics. Teachers are of low quality and the curriculum is not up to the average grade level. In middle school, the students are taught the curriculum of elementary, and in high school they are taught the curriculum of middle school. Administrators only care about a student鈥檚 grades and not their behavioral and academic growth and development. Trust me, I鈥檓 not exaggerating, but when I used to attend this school, the experience was horrid! We did not make any use of time and only wasted it by doing meaningless assignments all the time without even being taught a lesson. The book fairs are a disappointment. The only books that are displayed are kindergarten picture books and random toys, and there are no books for middle school and high school.
This is a great school when it comes to safety, anti-bullying, and festivities. The education was great until 5 years ago! Then the system changed and it became all about the school maintaining its accreditation. Very strict rules. The students and teachers are always under pressure. Students have summer/ winter break project. No they are not optional. Summer homework is graded and student will take a test on it when they get back to school. Winter break packet is optional but you will need to do it to push your test grades. The school is crazy about assessments. Students are more assessed than they are taught! You have at least 2 assessments EVERY WEEK along with home works and projects. Sometimes 2 assessment on the same day. But there is not one week without assessment. Not formative assessment but summative assessments! If u are late between classes, they add them minutes and collect them and make you 鈥渕ake up for them鈥 after school or on Saturdays and you will have to pay 10KD and hour (30$). MAP tests are graded!! They want to push students to take the MAP test seriously so and do well to brag about the school鈥檚 outcome and maintain their accreditation. The MAP test scores are converted to grade and posted as quiz test. There is more load on students at home. More work at home and no time for hobbies or exercise. They do not encourage creativity. Because there is no time for that. Strict on bullying and violence. Teachers are respectful. They love detentions! You wear jewelry, after school detention, you speak in class, after school detention, you open the lab faucet for fee seconds, detention! Kids laughing in class, call they鈥檙e parents to pick them up! If you want your child to have no life but to sit and do work that is impossible to be done by the student independently, if you are ok with your son/ daughter to do work on vacation and to be attentive to Teams 24/7 because they are worried the teacher might post new HW, you take them to this school. Very stressful. In terms of grades, they always have compensation. If you do bad in the test, you get a packet and solve it to push ur grades. So your grades don鈥檛 necessarily reflect your assessment outcome.
I do not really recommend this school if you are an education enthusiast. In fact, I do admit this school has potential for being somewhat great into improving a student's skills in life, however, I felt that this school's environment was biased insomuch as to induce an atmosphere of sheer nepotism and illogical favouritism. The elementary department is somewhat acceptable, though not of the best quality as mentioned in the school's official website, claiming to improve a student's skills in literacy and comprehension in such subjects. The same applies for the MSHS (Middle school and high school) department. The administration seem to care about a student's grades more than anything else. I felt that creativity did not matter in reality, and such images posted on the web are all a sham. In fact, the MSHS department does not include art and music subjects in the schedule. I proudly declare that this school does not appreciate students who think out of the box, hardly any attention paid to those who need maintenance into improving their abilities, for the point of education and learning itself is killed in this atmosphere. There is also a lot of bribing going on between students and teachers, and I haven't seen anybody who looks to resolving this problem. Not to mention that the school has a shortage of classrooms and teaching staff as well, which causes such uproar in the hallways and classrooms. In a nutshell, this school takes education for granted, only attention paid to the flaunting of other schools with students' so-called "academic" achievements.
I love the school and the teachers and they help me at my quiz if i didn't under stand the question they help me and they are the best.
They did a good job in Elementary school, however in middle school they did not focus on building confidence and character. they hammered the kids with homework and being strict sometimes meant yelling at the students which i did not like. It has the potential to be a great school if they wanted. Something I did not like was that picking up and taking the children from school was a true pain. It is crowded streets with buses among the cars driving through. There are children everywhere walking between the cars with their nannies. I did not feel the safety of the children mattered.

I started teaching at ABS seven years ago. It has been a personal and professional growth experience. The staff and faculty have been very supportive and kind. I have been able to use the skills I went to University to accomplish. Working at ABS is a fulfilling experience in many ways. The enhancements provided are inviting and sufficient, such as housing, travel pay to home of origin and the experience of international teaching. Working at ABS will give you the experience of teaching in a foreign environment that would be an added consideration on your resume. I enjoy working at ABS and will continue for quite a few years in the future.
