How would you rate Hong Kong Academy?
HKA has worked out well for us… Coming from a Montessori in SG my daughter was very shy and would not to talk to her teachers but being at HKA changed all that. She now imbibes so many of the PYP learner profile attributes and with learner support at HKA extending to the Exceptionally Able she has been extended and nurtured to grow beyond and explore her passions. The school focuses on nurturing the whole child and I have seen evidence of that with my child and her peers. For my mathematically minded secondary child, he has had opportunities to extend himself in Math through AP Statistics and is now doing things out of his comfort zone and challenging himself with the DP program. HKA has a great community and is one of the schools in Hong Kong that really follows the IB curriculum, and aims to nurture its students into responsible Global Citizens. Being one of a handful of schools around the world offering the Global Citizenship Diploma, secondary students have the opportunity to engage with and work on things beyond just academics. HKA recognises that each student has different pathways and abilities and never dissuades students from pursuing the IBDP. As a result, the school IB average score does not truly reflect the academic capabilities of its students. With three different pathways to choose from secondary students can follow their own path to individual excellence.
I have had two children at HKA for years. My eldest needs learner support, my youngest doesn’t. Firstly, HKA is the only school that showed any heart at all in the interviewing process. My son interviewed in 2019 at a time when schools were very competitive. HKA is the only school who took the time to give me any type of feedback, let alone enrol him. For me, this really showed they are the only school who cared for the children, and didn’t just see them as dollar signs. Since then, I have not ceased to be impressed by HKA. The teachers care immensely. The students are happy and well-rounded. The inclusive philosophy of the school is incredible, and a beautiful environment for the kids to grow up in. Just as importantly, academics are strong. Subjects are delivered in a way that is very engaging to children. It is a liberal, forward thinking school that focuses on community, kindness and growth. I would recommend it to any parent. As for comments that they have lost a lot of staff etc… what school hasn’t? Covid has had a very deep impact on every single school in HK. What matters to me is that HKA has successfully adapted and continued to deliver the same exceptional level of education despite it.
Great food and teachers and campus
My sons have been at HKA since the start of primary school - ever since we arrived in Hong Kong. As they move into their final few years of school, and start to think about what they might want to do after graduation, they continue to experience an excellent education delivered by highly professional and caring teachers. One of them loves sport, the other is more interested in music and maths, the schools facilities are top notch throughout with everything they need to succeed available to them. They are both flourishing and have built a fantastic network of international friends across varying grade levels who will no doubt provide them with connections across the globe as they mature into young adults.
A very warm and friendly community
The school has great facilities and a caring faculty.

Love the school environment. Wish I went here as a kid. There's a cafeteria and a cafe with fresh, wholesome homemade food. Indoor and outdoor playground with small garden and digging area, sand pit, frog and guinea pigs. Arts room looks really pro too. They have a very good recycling programme and composting system. Kids learn through exploration, research and play. A rarity in Asia.

Myself and my children (grade 3 & grade 10) both love this school. Most teachers are excellent teachers and lovely people. The school community is diverse, welcoming and fun. Most importantly, the academics are top notch and include well being curriculum and service to the community
