How would you rate Belvedere British School?
The best education and the best environment for your children. My children have been in school for 5 years and the level of knowledge is very high. I love BBS
The school is not managed by SLT . It is managed by the operation staff , TA and staff kids. They decide who to target and how to target. SLT has no role at all. Even on ADEK complaint ,the SLT has failed to make operation staff to work on it. If you are staff there than your kids have place. Else no.
Horrible administration especially SLT team鈥 horrible experience鈥
The teacher are very playful but some teacher are so arrogant also
Very bad management team, screaming at you so much that you'll go deaf. THe toilet are not toilets (broken taps, no tissues, doors broken and etc). 10 min break between EOT exams(1 hour exam - 10 min break - 1 hour exam) its not even a 10 min break because they take time to grab the papers and then they give out the next exam papers 5 mins early and tell us to be quiet. They old and good staff all left the school with only 20% of good teachers remaining and the new teachers are so bad that they can't even speak proper english
The projectors and ACs are broken, ceilings are leaking water. The bathroom doors are broken, water doesn't work properly, the tissues almost never get refilled. The schools barely has any supplies (e.g in art u have to buy expensive art supplies). A lot of teachers leave after one year. The new teachers are not that skilled enough to properly teach. The rules and consequences for behaviour are unfair.
It is an outstanding school in Abu Dhabi, they have very nice staff members and very good playful teachers.
I can recommend this school if you are a parent and you want high scores for your children. By your child not attending school and not submitting work, they will get 80-90%. If your child does attend school and submit work they could get lower than this. If you complain straight to the principal or vice-principal, they will make sure your money is not wasted by encouraging teachers to work even more beyond the means than they already are. As a parent of a child that attends this school, you will get anything you want because parents are the reason the owners make a profit to stuff their pockets at the dismay and disparity of the workers. Currently, teachers write reports every half term (every five weeks, yes five weeks) for all subjects on top of their already intense work schedule; as well as this, there are three parents evenings (spread across a whole week, essentially making it five parent evenings over a week, three times an academic year). Senior leadership members say they have done teachers a justice as it replaces the five hours per week teachers made for recorded videos which were demanded under the previous principal and his ideologies. Timetables are very heavy every week and there are little time for breaks. HR and Admin teams monitor breaks and if teachers leave school premises for longer than 10 minutes during any of your breaks, you are docked wages. As my understanding, there is going to be an overhaul in teaching systems about to take place for 2021-2022 meaning there is even less time for teachers to plan, prepare, assess and mark children鈥檚 work with demand set to increase higher from the schools SLT. The school is based solely on data and will make it up to look good regardless and will reprimand teachers badly for any slip up. A once happy workplace now becoming toxic and relentless. In the academic year of 2020-21, there is more than 75% staff turnover and the standards of education is diminishing. Teachers often feel overwhelmed at the ever increasing workload set by the school. Work load for teachers here is much higher compared to other schools. The salary is not competitive as it is based on your passport and everyone has the same wage regardless of your years鈥 experience. There is no increment or increase on salary. Contracts are unlimited but are based on a two year initial deal and resignations/gratuity are usually a battle to observe correctly with MOI having to intervene every year.
Change in management has led the school to go downhill fast. Now a terribly toxic environment and very unhappy staff.
I've been in this school since I was in year 4, I am now in year 11 about to sit my iGCSEs. This school is very good and the support you get from your teachers is extremely helpful.
Belvedere offers an amazing work environment where I have seen great development in the school, students and staff over the last couple of years in Primary. All the changes made during the years only inspired, motivated and challenged me to better myself. The school also provides opportunities for personal growth and professional development. The school day starts at 07:15 and finishes at 15:15. I rarely if ever have any work to do in the evenings and never at the weekends. The Head of Primary is always available and very supportive and helpful with an open door policy which really helps with those quick questions we have during the work day. Accommodation provided by the school is not great at all and you will be sharing a kitchen and living area with 6 other people. I have many great experiences working at Belvedere and hope to make many more.
Treat staff appallingly. Unfair pay depending on passport held. Staff accommodation is very unsafe. Do not pay gratuity to staff completing contract. Some British staff are made to do border runs to Oman instead of school doing work visa for them. High staff turnover. Senior leadership is false and does not care about the staff only how he appears. Terrible school. Facilities for children are very poor.

Great school with lovely children. Small class sizes and supportive SLT. My children love their school and their teachers have high expectations of them. Highly recommend.

Horrible school, rude staff members who are not willing to help you at all. They keep continuously changing teachers and that is due to the fact that many teachers left the school to the point where they have no teachers to teach a certain subject. Especially GCSE students who have to pick from a very limiting range of subjects which can impact their future
